What Business Really Is👀 (You maybe didn’t think of it this way)

Yay! So you’re excited about this new idea, maybe your friends convinced you into doing this, or you’re bothered that everyone around you has the “Entrepreneur” title in their bio. You probably don’t know what it all means, but you’re pretty sure there’s usually an exchange of cash and a product/service, so you want to delve into the Entrepreneur world or let me put it in a layman’s term, doing business because, I mean, who doesn’t want to make money🤷‍♂️ (I do though😁).

You’re all set now, you have the product or skill right in place and you tell your friends to tell their friends to tell their friends that you now do so and so🙃. Starting out may be difficult but in a little while, you make money and sort some bills, and bam! The real deal comes — there’s that time when you’re broke and nothing to fall back on and you probably don’t have(enough) customers to clear your bills.

Oftentimes, the reaction to this is to advertise more and tell more people that you do this and this(but the truth is, no one really cares what you do — I’ll come back to this statement , the main concern now is how have you been seeing your previous customers, do you take them as someone gives you money to foot your bills while you simply give them “what you have”?.

Let’s take a little dive into how my own brain works: for me, whenever I want to know how a thing or system works, I tend to reverse engineer the whole process. So let’s look at our present case, looking at it from your own view, you’re giving your product or service and your client/customer gives you money for it — which is your own need at that moment. Take a look at it from the other end, the customer is giving you money for your service/product which is his own need (could be anything from groceries to painting rooms to maybe developing software). In summary, you’re both HELPING each other — He’s giving you money(your need), you’re giving him your product/service(his need) and this is the core of what business is, helping others achieve their goals or solve their pain points. So the next time you think of business, think of it this way, how am I helping people who need my product/service? What pain point am I solving? What am I helping them achieve?

By doing this, you communicate it in your messaging, in your advertising, whenever you’re pitching, it becomes the core of what you offer. Next time, it’s not “come and buy what I’m selling”😅 cos they don’t really care. Next time, it’s “let me help you solve this and this problem”. No one cares about what you do but everyone cares about how you can help them.
